Two Israeli technology firms, Telrad and Cellwize, are in the headlines after news of acquisitions – agreed or planned – by African technology company Liquid Intelligent Technologies and wireless tech innovator Qualcomm.
Liquid is to acquire Telrad, a technology business with an extensive B2B offering. The company develops innovative technology solutions across business areas including networking, cyber security, cloud infrastructure, data centres, information technology, geoinformatics and education.
This transaction brings together Telrad’s differentiated technology solutions with Liquids’ unique, integrated platform of digital infrastructure and services. Telrad’s technology solutions and extensive R&D capabilities, including two dedicated R&D centres, will, Liquid says, complement its offerings and support its long-term growth strategy.
The company adds that the acquisition will strengthen its B2B product segments and its geographic reach, leveraging Telrad’s presence in 13 countries across the Middle East, South America, the US, Eastern Europe and Asia.
Meanwhile, according to website CTECH, Qualcomm is said to be closing on a $300 million acquisition of Israeli start-up Cellwize.
Cellwize has built an AI-powered RAN automation platform called CHIME that automates the deployment, design, management and optimization of 5G networks, while seamlessly managing the underlying legacy networks.
The company's technology ingests raw data from the RAN, and external sources such as crowdsourcing and geolocation, abstracts it, and makes it available to any application and solution through open APIs.
This enables a unified application layer across all vendors, which connects network applications and algorithms to any OSS or vendor in a guarded and controlled way, allowing mobile network operators to accelerate their 5G businesses.
It also enhances RAN automation across the network, while reducing operating costs and advancing time to market of 5G services.
