Vodafone Idea partnered with Lenovo-owned Motorola Mobility to deliver 5G smartphones for its growing 5G network.
Motorola tested its latest smartphone models on the 3,350MHz to 3,400MHz spectrum bands on the operator’s 5G network in New Delhi.
Vodafone Idea said its strategy to get more traffic for its 5G network involves having 5G handsets available across all price points, that tap into 11-15 5G bands. From Motorola, the operator will sell 11 popular devices from its range.
Motorola 5G devices will have optimised battery technology and thermal regulation to avoid overheating when used for high-intensity activities like gaming. They will also come with a Motorola security solution called ThinkShield, and are SAR tested and approved.
Vodafone Idea CMO Avneesh Khosla said: “We believe that the partnership will help develop the 5G device ecosystem, helping more Vi customers upgrade to a superior 5G-ready smartphone in time for service rollout”.
