MTN Rwanda has appealed to the country’s regulator for additional time to resolve the network issues that have incurred it the threat of penalties.
In August this year, the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) gave the operator a deadline of 30th November to improve its quality of service across the country – with the threat of sanctions being imposed if it failed to comply.
Local outlet New Times reported that the regulator would review the operator’s QoS in two weeks’ time. RURA Director General Ernest Nsabimana was quoted as saying: “We have received a report of what they have fixed so far and we are evaluating it; we will evaluate the factors that made them delay the fixing of issues, and on what levels the issues have been fixed and from there we will take a decision.”
