Network software provider Mavenir has announced that it has expanded its existing partnership with global manufacturing company Jabil and commenced manufacturing massive MIMO radios at Jabil’s facility in Pune, India.
This is in addition to the single band radios that were already being manufactured by Jabil in Pune.
Mavenir and Jabil say their partnership has resulted in the successful manufacture and production of Mavenir OpenBeam radios in Jabil’s state-of-the-art and expansive manufacturing facilities.
Mavenir says its OpenBeam radio portfolio is specifically designed for the growing needs of CSPs, with agile, cost-efficient, intelligent radios to meet critical demands on the network now and as the network changes and expands. The radio solutions can be used for a wide range of use cases, including basic coverage across all frequency bands, outdoor small cells, urban and rural.
Las September Mavenir announced it had commenced the production of 2G, 4G and 5G openRAN radios for the OpenBeam portfolio in India.
Mavenir is far from alone. As India’s Economic Times points out, Ericsson and Nokia are also manufacturing equipment in India.
Nokia started production of the Nokia AirScale mMIMO solution at its Chennai facility in December 2020. In addition, as we reported earlier this month, Nokia has said that it will extend manufacturing of passive optical network (PON) optical line terminals (OLTs) at its factory in Sriperimbudur near Chennai in response to increasing demand.
