MTN SA turns to Teoco for 5G network planning

MTN South Africa has selected the ASSET 5G planning solution from TEOCO, a provider of analytics, assurance and optimization solutions to over 300 communication service providers (CSPs) worldwide, to deliver 5G services to its 34.5 million subscribers.

Teoco says that the extension provides the operator with the full capabilities to plan a state-of-the-art 5G network and support the optimization of the planning process. By using the ASSET 5G planning tool, it adds, MTN SA is future-proofing the evolution of its 5G network.

The products within the ASSET Suite cover radio, backhaul and capacity planning across a wide range of technologies.

MTN SA has also greatly enhanced network visibility via the use of the EDS API (the EBSCO Discovery Service, which gives users access to an institution's entire collection through one entry point). The EDS API allows the operator to link data from across all of its systems, while also improving prediction modelling accuracy via efficiently generated coverage maps using the ArrayWizard module.

Through advanced analytics, says TEOCO, its products provide actionable and measurable insights into network and customer behaviour. This includes the optimization, effective monetization, and delivery of new and existing services such as 5G.

TEOCO says its solutions enable the digital transformation of CSPs while enhancing their network QoS, improving their customer experience and reducing their operational costs.

This contract extension builds on TEOCO and MTN Group’s existing relationship which has seen TEOCO offer network planning solutions to MTN for over two decades.
